Cy-Hawk Trophy

Based on the rivalry's previous hardware, the new Cy-Hawk Series Trophy couldn't be anything but an improvement. On Tuesday, the new trophy was selected in a landslide vote. And, as expected, it will look a lot better hoisted above players' heads than its predecessor. The trophy, which received 8,002 of the 10,282 votes (78 percent), features both mascots, corn stalks and a football. The base includes both logos and a list of previous season winners. See the new trophy and the old one in this post.

The two football teams will battle for the new trophy Sept. 8 at Kinnick Stadium. Iowa State won last season in a thrilling 44-41 decision, however Iowa has won the last four meetings in Iowa City and leads the all-time series 39-20.

Below is the old Cy-Hawk Series Trophy, which, rightfully so, received its share of negative publicity.
