The opening day of the NFL Draft saw three former Big Ten standouts get selected.

Brandon Scherff was selected No. 5 overall by the Washington Redskins, while Trae Waynes went No. 11 to the Minnesota Vikings and Melvin Gordon No. 15 to the San Diego Chargers.
Former and current Big Ten football players were active on Twitter throughout the draft, sending congratulatory tweets to their former teammates.
