No. 1 Maryland is no stranger to starting fast, and it showed it in the opening seconds of the first Big Ten women's lacrosse game Thursday night.

Taylor Cummings corralled the opening draw, led the Terrapins down the field and whipped a shot past Northwestern goaltender Bridget Bianco just 12 seconds in for the inaugural goal in Big Ten women's lacrosse history.
The top-ranked Terrapins cruised from there, taking a 16-5 victory over the fourth-ranked Wildcats at Lakeside Field in Evanston, Illinois.
