Late on this , but Iowa State recently announced it will sport throwback uniforms when it hosts Iowa on Sept. 14. A season ago, if you remember, Iowa wore throwbacks vs. the Cyclones at Kinnick Stadium.
Iowa State said in a release that the uniform is similar to the ones the team wore when Jack Trice played for the Cyclones in the early 1920s. Iowa State's stadium is named after Trice, the first African-American athlete at Iowa State who died due to injuries suffered in a 1923 game.
This uniform is nice, as far as throwbacks go. Iowa fans, however, are certain to disagree. But I like how it's not flashy and how the design somewhat resembles the uniform it's supposed to. Even if the jersey design resemble french fries, as many Iowa fans have mentioned.
Now, Hawkeyes fans, tell us what you think of the uniform.
