Big Ten Baseball Tourney: Day 2 roundup

The 2013 Big Ten Baseball Tournament continued Thursday at Target Field with three more games. Illinois survived by eliminating Michigan, Ohio State rallied to top Nebraska, and top-seeded Indiana held off Minnesota.

NO. 5 ILLINOIS 3, NO. 6 MICHIGAN 2: Sophomore John Kravetz worked his way out of a bases-loaded jam in the first inning with three straight strikeouts, setting the tone for 7.1 strong innings in Illinois' 3-2 win over Michigan (29-27). The Illini (34-17) stayed alive in the Big Ten Tournament after the bullpen closed out their 10th one-run victory behind two key outs from Drasen Johnson and the seventh save from closer Bryan Roberts. NO. 2 OHIO STATE 3, NO. 3 NEBRASKA 2: Bryan Peters tied Thursday afternoon?s game, 2-2, with a two-out single in the top of the ninth, but a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth resulted in a 3-2 walk-off win for Ohio State Buckeyes in the winner?s bracket of the Big Ten Tournament.
