Perhaps you heard the story of the 5-year-old Oklahoma boy whose school forced him to turn his Michigan shirt inside out last week? If not, evidently, the shirt was against the school district's dress code, which states only Oklahoma college apparel is allowed. Clothes from all other schools are against the current policy. The reasoning? Gangs.
The boy's mom, Shannon Barton, was not pleased with the decision.
"They should really worry about academics," she told News9.com. "It wasn't offensive. He's five."
It's a crazy and pathetic story, but some good came out of it all. Michigan AD Dave Brandon invited the young boy, Cooper Barton, and his family to Michigan's game against Massachusetts on Sept. 15. Watch feature that includes Brandon inviting Barton to game.
And, according to Twitter, he'll have a special shirt waiting for him, too:
Brandon will invite kid in Oklahoma who was scorned for UM shirt to come to UM FB game. Also got M Den to make inside out M shirt for him
