Clothes Call: Illini Week 12 lids to honor military

Illinois will wear a new helmet that honors the military Saturday vs. No. 3 Ohio State. The helmet looks a lot like the Illini’s primary lid, only the logo features the state of Illinois instead of the usual “I.” Even better, there are 10 stars, in the shape of an “I,” inside the state logo to honor the 10 former Illinois player who have died in combat.

How creative/awesome is that? Very cool. See the helmet below.

It’s right for Illinois to honor the fallen players. The name Fighting Illini first referred to the students and alumni who fought in World War I.
