Yesterday, the announcer mentioned that the Friday after Thanksgiving game was only a two year contract. Nebraska used to play Oklahoma every Thanksgiving until the pro teams realized it was a money maker and then the rivalry got bumped to Friday after Thanksgiving where it was until Big 12 and the opponent was changed to Colorado. There are limited teams playing on Friday so the B!G would continue to get more exposure, i.e. money so I hope this one Nebraska tradition will continue into the future. The Nebraska team and Iowa decided to make this game a lot more exciting than anticipated. BiG only plays football on Saturdays except for this game, other conferences play other nights of the week and they gain exposure to fans and advertisers.

There have been some season-opening non-conference games on Thursdays, we recall.

Sorry, but that is probably due to the other conference contracts. I know big 12 had some Thursday and some Friday night gaves as well as Saturday. Plus I think they play night games in November. I heard that not all B1G stadiums have lights but maybe the iowa lighting firm, think name was Muscow or something like that had portable lights when TV night games started. Nebraska used them until a renovation added lights.
