Armelin goes between legs, leads Gophers to win

  Chip Armelin had a career day in Minnesota’s 69-61 victory Sunday at Nebraska. The sophomore guard went for career highs in points (15) and field goals (7) and also tallied three assists, including the game’s best highlight. In transition during the second half, Armelin went through the legs with his right arm and delivered a perfect underhand pass with his left hand — all without the ball hitting the hardwood — setting up an easy bucket for Maverick Ahanmisi. Armelin gets fancy; Williams brings down house

“Chip Armelin is suddenly Steve Nash.” That’s what our resident Big Ten Geeks (@bigtengeeks) tweeted Saturday night following the Minnesota guard’s fancy pass to set up a transition bucket against Illinois. The pass was worthy of the high praise, too. Not only did Armelin fake a behind-the-back pass, he threw the ball right through D.J. Richardson’s arms, hitting Oto Osenieks for an easy bucket.
