Purdue quarterback David Blough had the honor of delivering the 2017 Big Ten Football Kickoff Luncheon speech on Tuesday afternoon, and he didn't disappoint.

The five-minute speech, which focused on football teaching life, resulted in a standing ovation.

Blough studied previous Luncheon speakers' messages, including Michigan State's Kirk Cousins, Penn State's John Urschel and even Indiana's Nate Sudfeld.

What did he learn from them?

"The message that was placed on my heart was one I believe we all need to remember," he said. "It's that the great game that we are here to celebrate teaches life."

Blough went on to add: "We have a responsibility as Big Ten football players to leave our communities, universites and teams better than when we first arrived. How will you choose to make your impact?"
