Michigan State women?s basketball head coach Suzy Merchant has taken a medical leave of absence, it was announced Tuesday.
Effective immediately, associate head coach Amaka Agugua will serve as interim head coach, during Merchant?s time away.
Following Saturday?s game at Rutgers, Merchant remained in New Jersey to undergo more testing at a local hospital after experiencing similar symptoms that she felt during a Jan. 1 home contest against Illinois. She missed MSU?s Jan. 4 game at Purdue, but was back on the bench for the Jan. 7 game versus Nebraska.
A time frame for her return has yet to be determined. Michigan State is back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at Northwestern at 9 p.m. (ET).
