Before we take in a DJ Durkin-led practice Thursday, here are five nuggets to know about the Terrapins entering the 2016 season.
1. DJ Durkin, who spent last season as the Michigan defensive coordinator, is the Big Ten's youngest active head coach (37).
2. Will Likely, a two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection, racked up an FBS-high 1,197 return yards last season en route to claiming 2015 Big Ten Return Specialist of the Year.
3. Maryland quarterbacks threw 29 interceptions last season, the most of any FBS team in the last 20 seasons, and the Terrapins' 36 giveaways ranked last in the FBS.
4. Maryland's 2016 schedule features just four teams that didn't finish below .500 in 2015 (7-6 Penn State; 12-2 Michigan State; 10-3 Michigan; 12-1 Ohio State).
5. 2015 All-Big Ten honorable mention selection Jermaine Carter Jr. totaled a team-high 103 tackles, including 14 tackles for loss, last season.
