Ohio State AD Gene Smith on holding spring practice in Florida: "If we were jump starting our program, I'd probably try to do that too."— Ben Axelrod (@BenAxelrod) March 22, 2016
Who knows if college football teams will be permitted to take parts of spring practice to, say, Florida in the future, as Jim Harbaugh and Michigan did earlier this month.
If the rules allow for it, don't expect Michigan's fierce rival Ohio State to leave Columbus, Ohio, for spring break.
Ohio State AD Gene Smith alluded to this while speaking to the media Tuesday. See his direct quite in the tweet above. Urban Meyer seems to agree, although he did previously seem open to the idea.
Interesting take. So interesting, in fact, many think Smith was taking a jab at the Wolverines.
To be fair, fresh off a 10-win season, a bowl win and a highly regarded recruiting class, Michigan isn't exactly "jump starting" its program.
FWIW, I didn't see Gene Smith's comments as a dig at Michigan. I mean, they ARE jump-starting their program, and Ohio State's not.— Ben Axelrod (@BenAxelrod) March 22, 2016
