What Big Ten player is the most exciting? Who would you plunk down your hard-earned cash to watch? Who brings you out of your seat and makes you say ?AHHHH!??
I asked some media members for their choice.
Jess Settles, Big Ten Network: Denzel Valentine. Magic Johnson passes, hits H-O-R-S-E shots in big games, always a triple-double threat. Fearless.
Marcus Fuller, St. Paul Pioneer Press: Most exciting to me is A.J. Hammons. In today's world, the 7-footers are mainly shot blockers and rebounders. Or you'll see them trying to be guards and hanging out on the perimeter. But Hammons is your classic center with deft post moves and the aggressive mentality to power slam on anyone around the rim. It's great to see him finally playing to his potential.
Scott Dochterman, Cedar Rapids Gazette: Iowa forward Jarrod Uthoff can do it all, from hitting a 3-pointer, to facing up against a defender, to blocking a 3-pointer on the next defensive possession. He's the Big Ten's most well-rounded big man, capable of a big play on either end of the floor and a mismatch for whomever is guarding him.
Pete DiPrimio, Fort Wayne News-Sentinel: Denzel Valentine. Jarrod Uthoff should be Big Ten MVP, but nobody does so many things so well as Valentine. He's a consistent triple-double threat.
Kyle Austin, Mlive.com: Denzel Valentine. There are plenty of guys who can make more athletic plays. But you won?t find a better passer in the Big Ten, and maybe in college basketball. He?s leading the Spartans in an exciting brand of basketball this year.
