College basketball is in full swing, and in just a few weeks, we?ll be talking about seeds, bubbles and Cinderellas. But there?s another tournament that kicks off sooner: Student Startup Madness (SSM).
[btn-post-package]This tournament features 64 startup ?teams? created by students from 38 public and private colleges and universities across the country. And the Big Ten is well represented in this competition with 18 teams, more than a quarter of the total. As with men?s basketball, Michigan State is particularly strong, with 12 teams, the most of any university.
The first two rounds of the ?SSM64? will be held online, and MSU and Illinois will host regionals on campus. The ?Entrepreneurial Eight? will pitch to judges on March 14 at the South By Southwest (SXSW) Interactive event in Austin, Texas, and a champion will be crowned.
