Tom Izzo said Monday that Denzel Valentine had a piece of cartilage removed after an injury in practice Sunday. He calls it "very, very, very minor."
"There isn't even a thought of lasting effects," Izzo said.
Valentine, who has registered a pair of triple-doubles this season, leads Michigan State in scoring (18.5), rebounds (8.3), assists (7.1) and steals (1.0).
Izzo says Eron Harris will be added to the starting lineup. Valentine could return to play Illinois on Jan. 7.
Here is Michigan State's schedule the next three weeks:
12/22: vs. Oakland (in Auburn Hills)
12/29: at Iowa
1/2: at Minnesota
1/7: vs. Illinois
1/12: at Penn State
