A.J. Hammons, Jordan Murphy claim weekly Big Ten honors

The Big Ten office released its latest weekly award winners Monday afternoon.

Player of the Week: A.J. Hammons, Purdue, C - Sr. - 7-0 - Gary, Ind. - Oak Hill (Va.) Academy

Averaged 20.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in just 25.0 minutes per contest, leading the Boilermakers to a win at Pittsburgh in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and a victory over New Mexico
Recorded a pair of double-doubles while shooting 68.0 percent (17-of-25) from the field
Scored 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including a pair of three-pointers, and corralled 12 rebounds at Pittsburgh
Scored 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting, pulled down 11 rebounds and recorded three blocks in just 16 minutes of action against New Mexico
Earns his second career Big Ten Player of the Week honor

Averaged 21.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game versus Clemson and South Dakota, including a win over the Tigers in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge
Posted a pair of double-doubles and shot 55.6 percent (15-of-27) from the floor on the week
Scored 24 points, corralled 10 rebounds, posted two blocks and tallied a pair of steals against Clemson
Scored 19 points, pulled down 17 rebounds, handed out three assists and recorded two steals versus South Dakota
Became the first Minnesota freshman to post back-to-back double-doubles since Kris Humphries in the 2003-04 campaign
Earns his first Freshman of the Week honor
