Purdue kicked off the action with an impressive 96-61 win over Incarnate Word, while Northwestern followed with a 79-72 victory over Fairfield.
The inaugural Gavitt Tipoff Games continued Wednesday as Illinois lost a close one to Providence, 60-59.
