Purdue knocked down a school-record 18 three-pointers as they rolled over Vermont, 107-79, while Thad Matta recorded his 300th win at Ohio State as the Buckeyes handled Mt. St. Mary's, 76-64. Dakota Mathias scored 17 points and Isaac Haas added 16 in Purdue's win. Purdue's 18 3-pointers is a school record and tops the 16 the Boilermakers made on Feb. 7, 1998, in a win at Ohio State. Vince Edwards made the record-breaking 17th 3-pointer from the left wing with 8:27 remaining.
Around the rest of the league, Matta is in his 12th year at Ohio State, where he is the all-time wins leader. He has 402 career wins including one season at Butler and three at Xavier. Corey Sanders scored 15 points in his long-awaited debut to lead Rutgers past Howard 82-70. Center Mike Thorne Jr. scored 21 points as an injury-depleted Illinois team rallied from a 14-point deficit in the second half to defeat North Dakota State 80-74.
