The lid is about to come off the 2015-16 basketball season, and it could be a big one for the Big Ten as the conference seeks its first national title since Michigan State took the crown in 1999-2000. How many Big Ten teams will make the Big Dance this year? I asked some esteemed members of the media.

Chad Leistikow, Des Moines Register (@ChadLeistikow): Seven teams will make it to the Big Dance. Maryland, Michigan and Michigan State are locks. Indiana has the talent to finish second in the league, so they'll make it. Still not sure how good Purdue is, even with so much personnel returning, but count them in, too. Wisconsin is always going to be there, it seems. And the seventh spot goes to Iowa, which might start slow as chemistry issues linger but a strong veteran presence down the stretch will carry the Hawkeyes into a third straight NCAA tournament. (So: Maryland, Michigan, MSU, Indiana, Purdue, Wisconsin, Iowa … in that order.)

Pete DiPrimio, Fort Wayne News-Sentinel (@pdiprimio): IU, Maryland, Purdue, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Ohio State and, yes, Northwestern.

Doug Lesmerises,Cleveland.com (@DougLesmerises): B1G teams in NCAA tourney: Michigan State, Maryland, Purdue, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio State.

Marcus Fuller, St. Paul Pioneer Press (@GophersNow): Maryland, Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue, Michigan, Wisconsin. Not sure on the rest. Ohio State and Iowa are bubble teams.

Dan Hoppen, HuskerOnline.com (@danhoppen): I?d say Maryland, Indiana, Michigan State, Purdue, Wisconsin and Michigan.
