But know this: Iowa is in firm control in the West. In the East, Ohio State is in the driver?s seat. Both are unbeaten, the last perfect teams in the Big Ten after Michigan State fell at Nebraska last Saturday. And they are on course to play in the Big Ten title game on Dec. 5 in Indianapolis. The Hawkeyes never have been in the event; the Buckeyes have played in the last two, losing in 2013 and winning last season.

Here is a look at the scenarios, as the East has four teams still in contention and the West has three.

Ohio State (9-0 overall, 5-0 Big Ten)
What needs to happen: Simple-win out, and it takes the crown.
Games left: at Illinois, Michigan State, at Michigan

Michigan State (8-1, 4-1)
What needs to happen: Simple-win out, and it takes the crown.
Games left: Maryland, at Ohio State, Penn State

Michigan (7-2, 4-1)
What needs to happen: The Wolverines must win out AND have Michigan State lose a game.
Games left: at Indiana, at Penn State, Ohio State

Penn State (7-3, 4-2)
What needs to happen: The Nittany Lions must win out AND have Michigan State and Michigan both beat Ohio State.
Games left: Michigan, at Michigan State

Iowa (9-0, 5-0)
What needs to happen: Win two of its last three, and it's guaranteed the crown. Iowa can also clinch with just one more win, coupled with at least one Wisconsin loss, OR zero wins, combined with Wisconsin losing out and Northwestern losing once.
Games left: Minnesota, Purdue, at Nebraska

Wisconsin (8-2, 5-1)
What needs to happen: The Badgers need to win their final two games AND have Iowa lose at least two of its last three.
Games left: Northwestern, at Minnesota

Northwestern (7-2, 3-2)
What needs to happen: The Wildcats need to win their last three AND have Iowa lose its last three tilts.
Games left: Purdue, at Wisconsin, Illinois (in Chicago)
