When thinking of the top programs in college football today, schools such as Alabama, Ohio State and Notre Dame come to mind.
But according to Fox Sports? Joel Klatt, over the past couple of years, the best program in college football is Michigan State.
Klatt appeared as a guest on The Herd Thursday and told listeners why he believes the Spartans deserve the No. 1 ranking in the country right now.
"They've only lost three games in the last three years," Klatt said. "They have one of the best wins in the country this year, beating Oregon at home. They have earned the No. 1 spot."
Klatt also went on to say he believes Connor Cook is the best pro prospect in the nation at quarterback, and that Mark Dantonio is right now "the best coach in college football."
Fans in Columbus, Tuscaloosa and South Bend might not agree with Klatt, but it's tough to argue against his point. Michigan State is 27-3 over the last 30 games, including an incredible 15-1 mark in Big Ten play. The Spartans have also won four straight bowl games and are the only program in the nation to finish in the top 5 in both major polls over the past two seasons.
