The streak ended there, however, as BYU stunned the Huskers on a Hail Mary to claim a 33-28 victory at Memorial Stadium.

With one second remaining, BYU backup quarterback Tanner Magnum heaved a 42-yard pass into the end zone, which landed in the hands of Mitch Mathews. The Hail Mary spoiled the debut of new Nebraska coach Mike Riley.

The last time the Huskers lost a season-opener was against Florida State back in 1985.
