One of the ways great stories come to life is through interesting photos. And we regularly come across some captivating shots in our search for remarkable stories about students, faculty and alumni throughout the Big Ten.

Walkin' It Out in Iowa

Weird Science at Wisconsin


Jessica Plavicki, an assistant professor in botany and genetics at the University of Wisconsin, had one of the winning entries in the school's annual Cool Science photography contest this year with her micrograph of vasculature in the adult zebrafish brain.

Kendal Major, a former Rutgers University dental student, has managed to parlay his chosen trade into a second career as a politician, and he?s set his sights on the highest office in his native Bahamas.

Finding Treasures in Trash


Maryland alumna Fern Gookin co-founded Recycled Artist In Residency (RAIR) in Philadelphia to raise public awareness and engagement around sustainability and environmental issues through art and design projects created exclusively out of recycled materials and industrial waste.

A 'Little' Race That's a Big Deal


Indiana University claims the Little 500, a 200-lap, 50-mile relay bike race held annually, is "The World?s Greatest College Weekend" because of the student involvement and school spirit on display.
