Tyler Jay struck out six in 6.1 innings, but it wasn't enough as Vanderbilt defeated Illinois, 4-2, in Game 2 of the Champaign Super Regional on Monday.

The Fighting Illini (50-10-1) finish the 2015 season with a school record 50 wins.

Junior Ryan Nagle led Illinois with three hits, while sophomore Pat McInerney added two hits and an RBI for the Fighting Illini.

Vanderbilt's Philip Pfeifer was outstanding on the mound, holding the Illini to just seven hits and two runs in 6.2 innings of work.

With the victory, Vanderbilt, the reigning national champ, advances to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
