If we've learned anything since Jim Harbaugh took over at Michigan, it's that we pay attention when the coach speaks and tweets.

Speaking in front of about 200 high school coaches Thursday in Detroit, Harbaugh gave Big Ten football fans, particularity ones in the state of Michigan, reason to listen.

When discussing the current pecking order of teams in the state, Harbaugh said this about rival Michigan State: "We know we're not the biggest guy on the block. Michigan State's bigger than us on the block."

"Rightfully so. They have done a tremendous job, and (I) respect the job that they've done. But we want to be that."

You can find Harbaugh's full comments about Michigan State at the 2-minute mark in the video above.

Michigan opens the Harbaugh era Thursday, Sept. 3 at Utah.
