Illinois' magic number was two heading into Thursday. Following an Iowa loss at Rutgers and a 6-3 win over Nebraska on Thursday evening, the Fighting Illini have reached that magic number.

Junior pitcher Kevin Duchene allowed just three runs and struck out four in seven innings as Illinois clinched the 2015 Big Ten baseball regular season title on Thursday.

The Illini have now won a program-record 25 consecutive games and improve to 44-16-1 this season, including an impressive 20-1 mark in Big Ten play.

Sophomore Pat McInerney broke the game open with a huge two-run home run in the fourth inning, which put Illinois on top, 4-0. Ryan Nagle, Jason Goldstein and Will Krug each added a hit and an RBI in the victory.

A total of eight different Illinois players recorded at least one hit in the win.

The Illini will now close out the regular season with two more games against Nebraska before the Big Ten Tournament gets underway next week.

Congrats, Illinois!
