The Spartans wasted no time Saturday afternoon, calling offensive lineman Donavon Clark's number on an early trick play from the opponent's 18-yard line. Clark, who backed up behind the line of scrimmage, caught Connor Cook's pass at the 28-yard line and rumbled to the 2-yard line.
While Clark was stopped short of the end zone, the Spartans seemed determined to have a lineman score. About a minute later, fellow lineman Jack Allen punched it in for the game's first points.
We have a feeling not too Michigan State many fans expected Clark and Allen would enter the Michigan State box score today.
