In the inaugural season of Big Ten women?s lacrosse, Maryland clinched the outright Big Ten Championship on Thursday following its 13-10 victory over Penn State at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. The Terrapins also secured the No. 1 seed in next week?s inaugural Big Ten Women?s Lacrosse Tournament.

The top-ranked Terrapins completed an unbeaten regular season at 17-0, including a 5-0 record in conference play. Penn State enters the Big Ten Tournament with a 4-1 conference record and 12-4 mark overall, and will be the No. 2 seed. The Terrapins and Nittany Lions have earned byes in the quarterfinals, and will begin play in next Friday?s tournament semifinals.

Maryland?s Taylor Cummings scored four goals, while Kristen Lamon and Zoe Stukenberg also tallied hat tricks. Penn State was led by Steph Lazo and Jenna Mosketti, who each scored three goals. The Terrapins led 8-3 at halftime, and went on a 5-3 run to end the game after Penn State pulled within 8-7 early in the second half.

The 2015 Big Ten Women?s Lacrosse Tournament bracket will be released on Sunday following the conclusion of the Big Ten season. The tournament will be hosted by Rutgers at High Point Solutions Stadium from April 30-May 3, and will feature all six conference teams.
