D.J. Newbill and his Penn State teammates are making a run in this year's Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament as the senior Nittany Lion doesn't want to see his college basketball career end just yet. Last week on"The Journey" BTN profiled Newbill and went back to his Philadelphia roots. It was a touching profile and you can watch the entire segment here.
The No. 13-seeded Penn State advances to play Purdue on Friday in the men's tourney.
On Thursday, Newbill scored 18 points, and Penn State shut down Iowa in the second half of a 67-58 victory.
On Wednesday, Newbill scored 26 points, Shep Garner added 19 and Penn State hung on to beat Nebraska 68-65.
"We're disappointed in how we finished in Big Ten play," Newbill said. "We've got another opportunity to come out here and prove to ourselves and prove to everybody we're better than what we showed."
