Big Ten hoops recap: Get scores, stats & video from Saturday's action

It was a rough day for Big Ten men's basketball teams. The conference went 4-6 on Saturday.

Illinois edged Missouri, 62-59, at the buzzer to earn Braggin' Rights and Indiana took down No. 23 Butler in the Crossroads Classic to highlight the day's busy slate.

Michigan (SMU), Michigan State (Texas Southern) and No. 12 Ohio State (North Carolina) all suffered defeats, among others.

Brice Johnson had 18 points and nine rebounds, and No. 24 North Carolina used its stout defense to hold off No. 12 Ohio State for an 82-74 victory Saturday. Marc Loving hit five triple and scored 19 points to pace the Buckeyes.

Rayvonte Rice hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the last of his 19 points, giving Illinois a 62-59 victory over Missouri in the annual Braggin' Rights game on Saturday.

D.J. Newbill scored 20 points, Brandon Taylor had 14 and 11 rebounds and Penn State won its ninth-straight game 73-68 over Drexel on Saturday at the PPL Center.

ST. FRANCIS 73, RUTGERS 68: BOX | PBP | AP RECAP
Ollie Jackson hit the go-ahead 3-pointer and two clinching free throws as St. Francis (Pa.) took a 73-68 victory over Rutgers Saturday. Kadeem Jack had a strong double-double (20 points, 12 rebounds) in the defeat.

Indiana's Troy Williams matched his career high with 22 points and Kevin "Yogi" Ferrell added 20 to help send Tom Crean to his 300th career victory in an 82-73 win over No. 23 Butler on Saturday in Indy.

NORTHWESTERN 67, WMU 61: BOX | PBP | AP RECAP
Tre Demps scored 17 points and Northwestern beat Western Michigan 67-61 on Saturday afternoon. Nathan Taphorn and Bryant McIntosh added 10 points apiece for the Wildcats.

TEXAS SOUTHERN 71 MICHIGAN STATE, 64 – OT: BOX | PBP | AP RECAP
Chris Thomas scored 22 points, and unheralded Texas Southern beat 25th-ranked Michigan State, outlasting the Spartans 71-64 in overtime Saturday.

NOTRE DAME 94, PURDUE 63: BOX | PBP | AP RECAP
Pat Connaughton had 19 points and 14 rebounds, leading No. 21 Notre Dame over Purdue 94-63 Saturday in the Crossroads Classic.

NORTHERN IOWA 56, IOWA 44: BOX | PBP | AP RECAP
Paul Jesperson scored 10 points and Northern Iowa rallied to beat Iowa 56-44 on Saturday in Des Moines and improve to 10-1.
