The decision comes after Hoke and the Wolverines closed out the season with a 42-28 loss at Ohio State, which left them one victory short of making a bowl game.
Hoke, who went from 11 wins to eight to seven to five, finished 1-3 vs. Ohio State, 1-3 vs. Michigan State and 2-2 vs. Notre Dame.
Social media took off after the announcement of Hoke's dismissal became official.
