Last week, USAToday.com ranked college football's best entrances, a list in which just one Big Ten team made the cut. Monday, the site considered the top 10 best student sections.
To the surprise of no one reading this, the Big Ten fared much better on this latest countdown.
Wisconsin led the Big Ten at No. 2, behind only Texas A&M, while Penn State (3) and Ohio State (5) both landed in the top 5. LSU, for what it's worth, was the only other non-Big Ten student section in the top 5.
Here's what USAToday.com said about the Big Ten student sections:
No. 2 Wisconsin
"There are two words Wisconsin?s student section loves: ?Jump Around.? Since 1998, the House of Pain song has been played between the third and fourth quarter of home games at Camp Randall Stadium."
No. 3 Penn State
"The PSU student section is a trend setter. On October 9, 2004, its members came to the Purdue-Penn State game decked out in white shirts. Since then, the White Out has become an occasional Beaver Stadium tradition."
No. 5 Ohio State
"The Block ?O? is one of the oldest student sections in the country. Buckeye head cheerleader Clancy A. Isaac Jr. formed the organization back in 1938. Since then, the section has been relocated behind Ohio State?s north and south end zones. The Block ?O? is also famous for its intricate card stunts."
You can't go wrong with these three student sections; in fact, this trio could land in any order, depending on who's doing the ranking.
As for the biggest Big Ten snub, if I had to pick one, it would be Nebraska. Those fans are great, every Saturday, every year.
