The first USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll was released Saturday, and No. 1 Iowa paces a whopping nine ranked Big Ten teams.
The Hawkeyes, who earned four of the 12 first-place votes, totaled 286 points, narrowly edging Big Ten rival Minnesota, which garnered seven first-place votes.
Ohio State comes in at No. 4 and three-time defending team champion Penn State rounds out the top five, giving the Big Ten four of the top five teams. The Nittany Lions received one first-place vote.
Nebraska (No. 7), Michigan (9), Illinois (13), Wisconsin (18) and Northwestern (19) round out the Big Ten contingent.
The USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll is voted on by a team's dual strength, not projected tournament points.
The next rankings will be released on November 11.
