The Big Ten announced its Week 3 Players of the Week on Monday morning. See all of the honorees and what they did to earn the honors in this post.
Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week: J.T. Barrett, Ohio State, Fr., QB
- Tied the school record with six touchdown passes in a victory over Kent State
- Completed 23 of 30 passes for 312 yards with five of his touchdown passes coming in the first half
- Recorded the first 300-yard passing effort by a Buckeye quarterback since 2006
- Wins his first Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and second Freshman of the Week award
- Last Ohio State Offensive Player of the Week: Carlos Hyde (Nov. 18, 2013)
- Last Ohio State Freshman of the Week: J.T. Barrett (Sept. 1, 2014)
Defensive Player of the Week: Trevor Williams, Penn State, Jr., CB
- Recorded five tackles and two interceptions to help lead Penn State to a victory at Rutgers
- Registered the first multi-interception game by a Penn State defensive back since 2010
- Helped Penn State hold Rutgers to three first downs and 95 yards of offense in the second half
- Claims his first career Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honor
- Last Penn State Defensive Player of the Week: C.J. Olaniyan (Oct. 14, 2013)
Special Teams Player of the Week: De?Mornay Pierson-El, Nebraska, Fr., PR
- Recorded 150 punt return yards and a touchdown on five attempts in a win at Fresno State
- Scored on an 86-yard return in the second quarter, marking the longest punt return by a Nebraska freshman
- Added a 51-yard punt return later in the second quarter
- Claims his first career Special Teams Player of the Week honor
