Four pitchers combined on the University of Michigan baseball team's first shutout of the season as the Wolverines blanked No. 22 Kansas, 4-0, Sunday afternoon (May 18) on Senior Day at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium. All five U-M seniors contributed to the win in the regular-season finale.
Fifth-year seniors Logan McAnallen, Ben Ballantine, and senior Alex Lakatos went the first 5.2 innings on the mound for the Maize and Blue. McAnallen faced the minimum in the first, passing it to Ballantine, who struck out three in two innings of work to earn the win. Lakatos went the next 2.2 innings, striking out a pair and allowing just an infield single. At the plate, senior Cole Martin was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs batted in, while senior Brett Winger singled to start the seventh inning.

Michigan now turns its attention to the 2014 Big Ten Tournament at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb. The Wolverines, the fifth seed in the tournament, open postseason play against No. 4 seed Minnesota Wednesday night (May 21) at 9 p.m. CDT (10 p.m. EDT) with the game televised on the Big Ten Network.
