The Women's Big Ten/ACC Challenge tipped off Wednesday night with six games. The Big Ten went 1-5, with Indiana carding the lone victory. There will be six more games Thursday night. Catch up on all of Wednesday night's action in this post.
NORTH CAROLINA 75, NEBRASKA 62 | RECAP
(AP) Xylina McDaniel hit 11 of 15 shots and scored a game-high 25 points to lead No. 18 North Carolina in a 75-62 victory over No. 15 Nebraska on Wednesday night. McDaniel, in addition to 73.3-percent shooting, grabbed eight rebounds for the Tar Heels (7-2). UNC shot 48.5 percent from the floor and 5 of 11 from behind the line, but finished with 10 more steals and seven more rebounds than Nebraska.
FLORIDA STATE 60, MICHIGAN STATE 58 | RECAP
A late comeback by the No. 25 Michigan State women's basketball team fell just short on Wednesday night, as Florida State knocked off the Spartans 60-58 at the Tucker Center. MSU, who falls to 5-3 on the season, was led by 20 points from senior Annalise Pickrel, and 19 points and 10 rebounds from redshirt freshman Aerial Powers in the 2013 Big Ten/ACC Challenge matchup. Florida State, who is receiving votes in both national polls, improves to 7-1.
GEORGIA TECH 93, ILLINOIS 69 | RECAP
Illinois hung with Georgia Tech for a while in Wednesday's Big Ten/ACC Challenge game at McCamish Pavilion, but the Yellow Jackets' size and defensive pressure proved to be too much for the Illini as Georgia Tech took a 93-69 victory. Jacqui Grant and Ivory Crawford led Illinois with 14 points each, but the Ramblin' Wreck out-rebounded the Illini 56-44 and held a 64-32 advantage in the paint. Grant also pulled down 11 rebounds for her second career double-double.
INDIANA 71, VIRGINIA TECH 65 | RECAP
The Indiana women's basketball team improved to 8-0 following a 71-65 win over Virginia Tech in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge Wednesday night in Assembly Hall. The perfect start through eight games is the program's best since the 1994-95 season. Larryn Brooks led the Hoosiers (8-0) with 37 points, setting an IU freshman record for scoring. Denise Jackson, IU's all-time career leading scorer, previously held the scoring record with 32 points in Feb. 1981.
MARYLAND 67, OHIO STATE 55 | RECAP
(AP) Alyssa Thomas had 25 points and 12 rebounds, and No. 8 Maryland overcame a shaky first half to beat Ohio State 67-55 Wednesday night in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Terrapins (8-1) led by only three points at the break before returning to make their first four shots as part of an 11-2 run that made it 40-28. Thomas scored six points in the spree and Brene Moseley sank Maryland's first 3-pointer of the game.
NOTRE DAME 77 PENN STATE 67 | RECAP
(AP) After building a double-digit lead in the first half, Notre Dame didn't let Penn State get close in the final 20 minutes. Natalie Achonwa had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the fourth-ranked Fighting Irish in a 77-67 victory over the No. 10 Lady Lions on Wednesday night in a Big Ten/ACC Challenge game.
