The upcoming Michigan-Notre Dame game has dominated headlines throughout the college football world this week. Leading up to the big game, #BTNLive had former Michigan standout Ty Law on the show Thursday. The guys asked the five-time Pro Bowler why this rivalry means so much to these two schools.

"Rich history and championships," Law replied. "They just happen to not play in the same conference, but when they get together and you talk about the nostalgia of it and having the big followings, it makes for a great game."

Sounds like Law is on the same page as numerous Michigan fans who were taken back by Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly's comments about the Wolverines not being "one of those historic, traditional Notre Dame rivalries."

When asked about his impressions of this year's team and where they are headed, Law said, "they (Michigan) are on the right path. The energy that Brady (Hoke) has brought back to Michigan… We're all proud."
