The biggest spring football star in the Big Ten may have been a 7-year-old. Jack Hoffman is a cancer patient who stole the hearts of America and the show at the Nebraska spring game, taking a handoff and racing 69 yards for a touchdown. Highlights of the run went viral, as little Jack?s story swept the nation.
Upper Deck subsequently issued a promotional card of Hoffman to help raise money for his charity: The Team Jack Foundation. Hoffman signed four of the cards and auctioned one on eBay. The final bid: $6,100. Alas, the person who made that bid has no plans to cough up the cash.
It?s an unfortunate twist in this heart-warming story.
But, you just now the spirit around little Jack never will be broken-and this story will be punctuated positively.
