T.J. Warren scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lift No. 6 North Carolina State to a 72-55 win over Penn State on Thursday at Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

FINAL: When the second frame got underway, North Carolina State (2-0) took control of the game. Leading 37-30 early in the second half, the Wolfpack used a 23-6 spurt to open their cushion to 24 points midway through the second half. North Carolina State shot 51 percent from the field (26-of-51). The Wolfpack were hot from long range, hitting 8-of-17 threes for a 47 percent night from beyond the arc. North Carolina State also got solid contributions from Rodney Purvis, who scored 12 and C.J. Leslie, who scored 14. Tim Frazier scored 23 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out four assists for Penn State (1-1) in a losing effort. The Nittany Lions struggled from the floor, shooting 33 percent (19-of-57). Penn State also got double-digit performances from Jermaine Marshall, who scored 11 and D.J. Newbill, who scored 13.
HALFTIME: No. 6 North Carolina State took full advantage of the stellar combination of T.J. Warren and Rodney Purvis, ending the first half against Penn State up 35-26. Warren scored 12 points, grabbed three rebounds, and shot 5-of-7 from the field. Purvis scored 12 points and shot 4-of-4 from the field. The Nittany Lions applied the pressure in the first half, earning second-chance opportunities with seven offensive rebounds, to just three for the Wolfpack.
