For the first time in the history of the Coaches Poll, the Big Ten has zero ranked teams. Perfect Ohio State (6-0, 2-0), which is ranked No. 8 in the AP Poll, and surging Penn State are not eligible for the poll this season due to NCAA sanctions. Nebraska and Northwestern fell out of the poll following losses at Ohio State and Penn State, respectively.

Five Big Ten teams are receiving votes: Michigan (33), Northwestern (31), Michigan State (27) , Nebraska (18) and Wisconsin (8).
