Penn State racked up 99 passing yards in the quarter, and the Nittany Lions now lead 14-3. Temple finished off a 58-yard drive when Brandon McManus kicked a 34-yard field goal to make the score 7-3. The Owls went to the air just two times on that drive.

Penn State expanded its lead to 14-3 thanks to a two-play, 35-yard drive that ended when Matt McGloin kept it himself for a two-yard touchdown run. Jesse Della Valle's punt return set the Nittany Lions up to start the drive.

Penn State's McGloin reached the 200-yard passing mark for the game thanks to 99 in the quarter, and currently sits with 213 yards in all.

Temple will have possession to start the second half.
