Ball State's defense held tough in the third quarter, holding Indiana to 32 total yards of offense and the Cardinals have taken the lead 38-25. Ball State's front seven stepped up in the quarter, allowing the Hoosiers to gain just 10 rushing yards.

The last 14 points have been scored by the Cardinals.

Jamill Smith's 12-yard touchdown pass to Keith Wenning put Ball State on top 31-25, capping off a six-play, 57-yard drive. The Cardinals expanded their lead to 38-25 thanks to an 11-play, 71-yard drive that ended when Wenning found Zane Fakes open for an 11-yard touchdown pass.

Ball State has possession at its own 38-yard line to start the fourth quarter.
