The Big Ten Conference released its Big Ten Softball Players of the Week for May 7-13 on Monday. See all the winners and check out what they did to earn the distinctions in this post.
Player of the Week: Brooke Thomason, Nebraska, Jr., OF, Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest
- Hit .571 (4-for-7) and combined for an OPS of 1.524 in Nebraska?s series win over Wisconsin
- Smacked two doubles, drew two walks and swiped one base in the series, recording three RBI and scoring one run over the weekend
- Recorded at least one hit in all three games, including a 2-for-2 performance in the finale
- Wins her second career Player of the Week Award
- Last Nebraska Player of the Week: Brooke Thomason (March 26, 2012)
Pitcher of the Week: Haylie Wagner, Michigan, Fr., LHP, Orange, Calif./El Modena
- Posted a 1.58 ERA and stuck out 11 batters in 13.1 innings of work over the weekend, helping the Wolverines to their fifth consecutive Big Ten title
- Allowed just one run in seven innings on Friday, scattering six hits and fanning five
- Surrendered one hit and struck out three over four innings of work in the series finale
- Wins her fifth Big Ten Pitcher of the Week honor
- Last Michigan Pitcher of the Week: Sara Haylie Wagner (April 16, 2012)
Freshman of the Week: Anna Edwards, Northwestern, 2B, La Canada, Calif./La Canada
- Finished the three-game sweep over Illinois with a .429 average, slugging 1.286 and reaching base at a .429 clip
- Smacked one double, a triple and home run in the series, recording three RBI and scoring three runs
- Produced one hit and one RBI and scored in each game of the series
- Claims her first Big Ten Freshman of the Week award
