Illinois Athletics Director Mike Thomas announced Friday that Jolette Law was released as head women?s basketball coach. Law compiled a record of 69-93 in five seasons as head coach, including 11-19 in the season completed yesterday with a 68-53 loss in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. Law?s Big Ten record in her five seasons was 27-59, with a highest conference finish of eighth place in 2009. In her first season, Law guided the Illini to a 20-15 record, including an historic run in the 2008 Big Ten Tournament, winning three games and advancing to the championship game before losing to Purdue on a buzzer-beater.
