There were a quartet of Big Ten women's hoops games Thursday, and it was a highly successful night. The conference went 4-0, headlined by No. 11 Ohio State's 79-57 victory over Washington State. Iowa 86, Mississippi Valley State 80 BOX
The University of Iowa women's basketball team made a school record 14 3-pointers Thursday night against Mississippi Valley State, and it needed everyone one of them. The Hawkeyes saw a 22-point lead evaporate to one (66-65) midway through the second half before holding on for an 86-80 victory over the Devilettes, a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Ohio State 79, Washington State 57 BOX | AP RECAP
(AP) Samantha Prahalis overcame a slow start to spark a second-half run and No. 11 Ohio State surged to a 79-57 victory over Washington State on Thursday night. Prahalis, averaging 17.8 points, had two in the first 20 minutes as the Buckeyes (13-0) clung to a 40-35 halftime lead. She had six points in the opening four minutes after the break then hit her second 3-pointer with 11:38 left to spark a 17-1 spurt that gave the Buckeyes a 70-45 lead.
Purdue 73, IPFW 36 BOX | AP RECAP
(AP) Courtney Moses scored 14 points to lead No. 20 Purdue to a 73-36 victory over IPFW on Thursday night. Sam Ostarello added 13 points and eight rebounds, Brittany Rayburn had 11 points and four assists, and Antionette Howard added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Boilermakers (10-3) in their final nonconference game.
