Eight Big Ten men's basketball players were named to the 2011-12 Naismith Trophy Preseason Watch List, released Monday. The candidates are the same as the ones that made the Wooden Award Watch List, minus Minnesota's Trevor Mbakwe. See all the stars who made the cut for the award handed out annually to the men's player of the year in this post.
Four Big Ten players have won the Naismith Award since its inception in 1969, most recently Ohio State?s Evan Turner (2009-10). Indiana?s Calbert Cheaney (1992-93) and Purdue?s Glenn Robinson (1993-94) won it in back-to-back seasons and Indiana's Scott May was the conference's first recipient (1975-76).
