Video: Sam Thompson returns home, puts on dunk show

You didn’t think Sam Thompson would return home to Chicago and not put on a show in the Big Ten tourney at the United Center, did you? That’s just silly. The Ohio State sophomore gave fans what they expected with a quartet of dunks, a soaring alley-oop being the best of all. Thompson got so high on the alley-oop, he almost goal-tended the pass that looked more like a shot. Watch the alley-oop now and find Thompson’s other dunks in this post. Video: Watch Thompson dunk the inbound - again

Somehow, someway, teams continue to forget about Ohio State’s Sam Thompson on baseline inbound plays. The guy is one of the Big Ten’s elite leapers and dunkers, so it only makes sense that opponents would account for him and keep him out of the lane. Right? Nope. The sophomore found a free path to the basket and poked home another inbound pass in Sunday’s win over No. 5 Michigan State. Watch the play in this post. [ RELATED: Want to embed a video? Did You See This? Thompson's 360-degree jam

Ohio State’s Sam Thompson has proven to be a master dunker this season, and he put on a bit of a show on Thursday night in the win over Northwestern. After a tight game that went back and forth (full coverage here), the Buckeyes pulled ahead late. And that’s when Thompson executed an uncontested 360-degree dunk. See it in the video in this post. Big Ten Geeks: It's Ola-doeverything for Indiana

Indiana held serve against Michigan State to move into a tie with Michigan atop the Big Ten standings. Normally, I’d use this opportunity to point out that although Indiana won by 5, the outcome actually suggests that Michigan State is the better team. But I don’t think that’s true here, because Indiana was equal to or better than the Spartans in all but one category—three-point shooting. MSU made 11 of its 23 attempts from behind the three-point line, and I’ll go ahead and call that an aberration. While IU’s perimeter defense isn’t exactly a strength (teams are more than willing

Just another Sam Thompson highlight jam

I must admit, it’s getting very, very hard to write something creative each time Sam Thompson leaps out of the gym and delivers an incredible dunk (view his highlight reel). So for the sake of saving your time, do yourself a favor and watch the sophomore’s latest effortless alley-oop. And this one was extra sweet, because it provided an important two points in a close victory over heated rival Michigan. Video: Sam Thompson slams on A.J. Hammons

Sam Thompson is quickly becoming the media’s best friend. Pretty much every game, the Ohio State sophomore gives us something to talk about, something to watch over and over. And we all appreciate it. Of course, I’m referring to his unbelievable dunks. In Tuesday’s win at Purdue, Thompson delivered another highlight, this time posterizing Purdue freshman big man A.J. Hammons. Watch the dunk now and see Twitter reaction in this post. [ RELATED: Watch 2012-13 slams on our Big Ten Dunk Archive ] Earlier Tuesday, I posted my top 5 dunkers in the Big Ten. Ohio State played Wednesday night, which means sophomore Sam Thompson delighted viewers with another incredible dunk. Seriously, it’s nearly becoming an every-game occurrence. It was simply beautiful, and you can watch it for yourself in this post. Did You See This? Sam Thompson windmill slam

Did You See This? Thompson dunks inbound pass

OK, the time has come for teams to account for Sam Thompson on each and every inbound pass under Ohio State’s basket. There’s no excuse – not after the athletic sophomore threw down an inbound alley-oop for at least the fourth time in his year-plus in Columbus. Heck, he just did it Saturday, in addition to twice last year (here & here). Watch Thompson’s latest inbound alley-oop now and watch his other dunk from Wednesday night. Dunk of the day: Victor Oladipo or Sam Thompson?

On the first Saturday sans Big Ten football, BTN aired five consecutive men’s basketball games. It all started at noon ET and came to an end just before 10:30 p.m. There were too many highlights to count during the 10-plus hours of action, but it’s safe to say none were bigger than Victor Oladipo and Sam Thompson’s ridiculous dunks.
