The Hockey City Classic college hockey doubleheader at Soldier Field on Saturday includes two games: Michigan State vs. Michigan at 8 p.m. ET ahead of Miami (Ohio) vs. Western Michigan at 4 p.m. ET. The Michigan-Michigan State game airs live on BTN/BTN2Go. MSU (10-11-2 overall, 4-3-2-2 Big Ten) and Michigan (15-8, 7-2) play for the second time in the last nine days. Wisconsin unveiled its Hockey City Classic uniform early last month. On Tuesday night, it was Minnesota’s turn. From an aesthetic perspective, it’s clear, the Badgers and Gophers will delight in their respective throwbacks Sunday at Soldier Field in Chicago. Minnesota’s uniform is modeled after the 1960-61 team, and it’s a classic design. Aside from the Nike swoosh under the collar, that is. Other than that, the uniform boasts several old-school qualities, from the drawstring collar, to the varsity stripes on the arms and around the waist, to the diagonal script “GOPHERS” across the front. The Wisconsin men’s hockey team will wear a special throwback uniform for the OfficeMax Hockey City Classic on Feb. 17 at Soldier Field in Chicago. The sweater is a reproduction of what the 1931-32 team wore, and it’s pretty slick. See a photo of the sweater in this post.
