ND edges MSU, 2-1, in national quarterfinals

In snowy South Bend, Ind., the Michigan State men’s soccer team (14-6-3) fell 2-1 to No. 3-seed Notre Dame in the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinal on Saturday night. Though the Spartans came back with a header from Jay Chapman after a two-goal deficit, they were unable to obtain the equalizer as time expired in the second half.

Spartans move on to NCAA quarterfinals

For the first time since 1968, the Michigan State men’s soccer team is headed to the NCAA quarterfinals. The Spartans shut out reigning national runner-up Georgetown, 1-0, Sunday to move two wins away from battling for the national crown. Two Big Ten teams advance to NCAA regional semis

The Michigan State and Penn State men’s soccer teams advanced to the NCAA regional semifinals with second-round victories Sunday. Both teams carded 1-0 wins, with the Spartans downing Louisville in double overtime and the Nittany Lions taking down UC Santa Barbara. Wisconsin lost 4-0 to Notre Dame.
